Bérangère MCNEESE
Film director
Bérangère received a grant to support her in writing her next feature film.
What is your artistic background ?
I am an actress, and I started acting at a fairly young age. I've had the opportunity to act in quite a few very different projects, both in film and television and for streaming platforms, notably in Belgium, France, and England. In 2015, I directed my first short fiction film, followed by two others. This year, my very first feature film as a screenwriter and director is being released. The film is called “Les filles du ciel”.
How do you view your profession today?
I am still fascinated by my job, just as I was when I started out. I love the encounters that this journey allows me to have, immersing myself in an artist's world, living a thousand lives at once, and also creating my own world and inviting anyone who wants to be part of it. I love the instability of acting, even though it's a real lifestyle choice. I don't know where I'm going, and I find that very beautiful. Directing also allows me to work on my own projects over the long term, which balances out my daily life a little.
How do you see yourself in 5 years ? In 10 years ?
I would like to stop time and continue experimenting over and over again. So I hope to still be free in 5 or 10 years, to still be able to play very different things, and to continue making choices that take me into the unknown. I also hope that I will have had the opportunity to make my next film, which I am currently finishing writing. I can't wait to see what happens next.
