What is your artistic background ?
My first contact with dance was through my mother, she took dance classes for hobby, but my father didn’t allow me to took bale classes, so I joined Artistic Gymnastic, I trained for 10 years, from 6 to 16 years old. I started study dance when I was 19 years, taking several kinds of dance as bale classical, Brazilians Dance, Indian classical dance, Capoeria Angola, Contemporary dance and Tai chi and etc.. my basic background was in Sao Paulo. At the same year I created my first solo. I danced with many different choreographers too and I graduated at University Catholic of Sao Paulo PUC at the course Communication of the body arts, a great course that has a focus in creation in a vanguard point of view. In that course, I started make my own work as choreographer. I studied as well in Taiwan for a year with Cloud Gate Dance Theatre through a prize at Rolex Mentor and Protége Arts Initiative, that experience I could focus in Chinese body practices. Today I have 3 solos that I have been presenting in around the world, Between Restraints ( 2008) How to overcome the great tiredness? ( 2010) and Crooked Man ( 2013- 14), Now in 2017, I’m creating a new solo. I like to work in many positions in the dance field as a choreographer who perform your own ideas, I like to be performer to other choreographer, I like to direct other dancers and work as teacher.

What is your view on your profession today ?
In Brazil is very hard to be a dance maker even we are a place that the act of dance is very popular. Artists who are not in the big medias in Brazil are still marginalized, the “normal” people doesn’t realize the importance of the art and culture to a country. We (artists and government) were constructing a better conditions for work and building public since + or – at the beginning of this century we were going quite well but through the Parliament Brazilian coup at 2016 our conquest starting to go back at worst old times. Talking specially at dance field in Sao Paulo (my home town a fifth bigger metropole in around the world) nowadays in 2017 We are suffering from the ignorance of our leads for the importance to create other ways to make dance. They are destroying everything. It’s a shame. We dancers, choreographers, producers, curators, thinkers, teachers and etc… are now together fighting against this situation.
What they got are the union of our field.
What I like from dance is that we carry on our work in our bones, masses, our all existence is involved, that is nice!
Our poetry in our body through movement.

How do you see yourself in 5 years? In 10 years ?
For 5 years I hope I could help more to build more respectful to our work in our country. For 10 years, I hope still dancing in an even better condition and see more inequality social in Brazil and see more dignity for all artists that are working so hard in nowadays. I hope have children too!
