What is your artistic background?
I'm currently in my 3rd year at the Conservatoire National Supérieur d'Art Dramatique (CNSAD). Before that, I was at the “Prépa concours Egalité des chances - Horizon Théâtre”. During my first year at the Conservatoire, I took a number of different acting courses, including clowning, masks, singing, dance, acting in English and an acting course with Gilles David. In my second year, I had the opportunity to take an ERASMUS course at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. At the end of the semester, I performed in Romeo and Juliet and Tis' Pity She's a Whore, directed by playwright Jaïrus Obayomi. Upon my return, I was able to do a Krump workshop with Alexandre Moreau aka Cyborg. I also took film classes with Xavier Legrand in addition to my weekly classes. The academic year ended in June with Et je Me Souviendrai Toujours de Cela, Peut-Être, a staging of works by Jean-Luc Lagarce devised by Claire Lasne d'Arcueil. My third year began with a performance at the Musée Duras, directed by Julien Gosselin, who chose to work with texts by Marguerite Duras.
How do you view your profession today?
Thanks to the various stage experiences I've had over the last few years, I feel increasingly connected to what I consider to be the essence of this profession. It's a constant and profound project around the artist you are and want to represent. The human and artistic encounters are varied, rich in exchange and enable us to confront different visions; and these elements, in my opinion, unite us within this profession. I sincerely feel the urge to go out and meet artists (or people who aren't artists, for that matter) and to exchange and share with abandon.
How do you see yourself in five years? In 10 years?
It's hard to project yourself five or 10 years into the future, especially when you're still at school and just starting out in the world of live performance. I hope that in the future I'll still be doing the job that means so much to me today. I want to act without losing the primary need that drives me, while always striving to find the joy in being on stage or behind the camera.
