Kubra KHADEMI
Metteure en scène

Kubra a reçu une aide à la production pour son spectacle "Reperformance"

What is your artistic background ?
I am a multidisciplinary artist. I have always been drawing since childhood and today I think I draw «myself». I also use my body in my work. I make performances. I have always been fascinated by public spaces because for me it was unachievable and the fact of why it is only for men (?) remained mysterious phenomenon until by the time I understood its called patriarcal. I start exploring it through walking and it became the base of my performance practices. Walking is drawing of performance art. Walking in the cities made me think,  question, feel as an individual and this leads me to all my creations.

What is your view on your profession today?
Today I can see clearly how I was an artist when I was a little child. For instance : drawing of naked women, using my body in different forms, I would say I was exploring my sexuality. I was talented in mimicking others... Basically a lot of bad things I did not have to do because I was a girl…that is why my mother use to punish me for all. I was a "bad girl" through my mother’s or afghan culture’s definition. Now I am not sinful anymore because I was just an artist. Today I am an artist in a much larger context for sure. The bad girl of past is an artist today. I use my personal life in work. It is all about my identity and/or sexuality and exile. I live in my art.

How do you see yourself in 5 years? In 10 years?
I will keep living in my art.
