Film director

Lara received a writing grant for her next feature film.

What is your artistic background?

I studied in many different places: Bilbao, Rome, New York, Havana, Barcelona... Those cities taught me so much about filmmaking and art. I’m happy that I’ve had the chance to live all these different experiences.

How do you see your profession today?

I always say that the film industry is in crisis. That's my view on it today. It's really difficult to find financing for our projects. It’s even harder when you're a woman, the industry has a lot of work to do on gender equality. It needs urgent change.

How do you see yourself in five years? In 10 years?

I like to imagine myself making movies in 5-10 or 20 years. Documentaries, fiction or short films... it doesn't matter. I’d love to be telling stories for the rest of my life.
