Louisa BEN
Photographer

Louisa received the grant "Emerging creation" as part of the LES FEMMES S'EXPOSENT festival in partnership with the Fonds Régnier pour la Création.

What is your artistic background ?
I started photography almost 10 years ago when I began studying at a photography school. It was there that I discovered film photography and documentary photography, which still accompany me today. I dreamed of being a photojournalist; it's not quite what I do today, but it's quite close: I work regularly for the French and international press. At the same time, I develop long-term documentary projects in France, Morocco, and Colombia.

What is your view on your profession today ?
I love my job, but I am aware of the great precariousness of our profession. There are many of us and there are few positions. I hope to be able to continue photographing for as long as possible because, to be honest, I wouldn't really know what else to do.

How do you see yourself in 5 years? In 10 years ?
I would like to join a photographers' agency to be supported by the collective. Ideally, I would only work on projects that I enjoy, but I think that's a bit utopian.
