Miriam received a grant to help her study at The Teatro Real
What is your artistic background?
I was born in Cartagena (Spain) in 1996, and I began my musical training at the Conservatorio Profesional de Música Narciso Yepes de Lorca in oboe and singing.Later I studied with the teacher Gloria Fabuel at the Conservatorio Superior de Música Joaquín Rodrigo in Valencia. Where I trained and completed my studies. During my time in Valencia I starred in the revival of the play "Marinada" by Vicent Garcés in the Sala Iturbi of the Palau de la Música in Valencia, where I also played Mercedes in the opera "Carmen" by Bizet (2019). I have also performed in opera and zarzuela recitals in Valencia, both at the Palau de la Música (2019) and at the Palau de Les Arts (2020). I am currently completing my studies at the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía, (Madrid, Spain). During the first year of my master's degree with Maestro Francisco Araiza and now I am perfecting my studies with Susan Bullock. During the 2020/2021 season I have been part of the project "Crescendo. Creamos ópera" a project for young opera singers at the Teatro Real in Madrid. Thanks to this project I have had the opportunity to debut the role of the Fairy in Pauline Viardot's "Cendrillon" at the Teatro Real (Madrid), Teatro Maestranza (Seville), Teatro Campoamor (Oviedo) and Teatro Cervantes (Málaga).
How do you see your profession today?
I feel very blessed to be able to dedicate myself to this profession, I think it is one of the most beautiful professions you can dedicate yourself to because you connect with people. I think it is a difficult profession because you have to put in a lot of effort and dedication, when you are young it is even more difficult to keep up that effort and maintenance but the reward is so rewarding that all the sacrifice is worth it. Right now there is a lot of competition, a lot of people who sing very well and have a very good attitude to dedicate themselves to this, so now you have to train not only in singing, you have to be good actors, understand the music and communicate everything to the public.
How do you see yourself in 5 years? 10 years from now?
I don't know, I would love to see myself singing in beautiful theatres enjoying opera. Right now it is a distant goal, I think that with effort and dedication I will be able to make a living singing, although the most important thing right now is to enjoy the wonderful path that music offers me and that will lead me to my goal.
