Rosine VOKOUMA
Actress

Rosine received a grant to finance her studies at the École Régionale d’Acteurs de Cannes et Marseille.

What is your artistic background ?
I started acting at the age of 12 with the club at my school and I immediately knew that I wanted to make it my profession. I then joined an improvisation group with which I stayed for four years. As I got more and more passionate, I chose the theater option at high school, which was my main subject along with philosophy. After obtaining my Baccalauréat, I was accepted by La Sorbonne Nouvelle Paris III in Theater-Arts & Media, before continuing at the Conservatoire de Reims at the age of 22. I auditioned for the Comédie de Reims class and was accepted. I then spent two years at a Centre Dramatique National, evolving among the artists and being trained by many actors and directors. After obtaining my DET, with the congratulations of the jury, I relentlessly entered national school competitions. I was accepted at the ERACM (École Régionale d'Acteurs de Cannes et Marseille) in June 2021.

How do you view your profession today ?
In line with the decentralization that has been taking place in France since the 1980s, I am convinced that the performing arts must be accessible and relevant to all social classes, regardless of their location and budget. In a world where inequalities are growing, it is essential that Art goes out to meet people and that it becomes more and more democratic, and above all, that it is in the image of society : multi-cultural. More than anything, theater is an art of collective sharing.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years ? In 10 years ?
I would like every year to be different, and to accumulate a variety of projects, always with the aim of entertaining and expressing an opinion on the world around us. I see myself evolving with artists who have the desire, like me, to advance French theater on all issues of inclusion : those who are the most disadvantaged must have access to art, all cultures must be represented and the question of gender in the theater must be shaken up ! I see myself fulfilled and constantly surprised.
