Sacha BARBIN
Film director

Sacha received a writing grant for his next short film.

What is your artistic background ?
I studied in a literary preparatory class (Hypokhâgne, Khâgne) for two years. Then I shot a debut self-produced short film which led me to direct music videos. At the same time, I was hired to co-write a feature film, winner of the Emerging Film Award in 2014, which is currently in production. In 2017, I shot Ordalie, a short film with Michel Fau and Gaspard Ulliel.

How do you view your profession today ?
The profession of director has changed slightly with the arrival of digital and new technologies. Today we can do things we would have thought impossible just a few years ago. I think it's great to have access to all these tools. Even if the fact of being surrounded on a daily basis by computer-generated images and digital cameras has recently made me want to shoot on film and experiment with another way of working, another relationship to directing actors, to light, to meaning. Without nostalgia, but with the desire to deepen my practice even more.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years ? In 10 years ?
I have just finished writing a feature film and I am in the process of laying the foundations for a series. I want to work in France and abroad.
