Lara IZAGIRRE
Réalisatrice

What is your artistic background?

I studied in many different places: Bilbao, Rome, New York, La Habana, Barcelona... Its city has taught me different things about filmmaking and art. I´m happy that I´ve had the chance to live all this different experiences.

What is your view on your profession today ?

I always say that the filmmaking industry is in crisis. That's my view on it today. It's really difficult to find financing for our projects. It´s even harder when you're a woman, filmmaking industry has a lot to work for gender equality. Filmmaking needs an urgent change.

When you will consider to have emerged ?

I think that I have emerged in the last months. My first feature film Un otoño sin Berlín, has opened the doors to a new world. The audience, the critics and the journalists have supported our film and that has helped me find my spot in this crazy filmmaking industry. Getting a Goya Award with my first film has changed everything, I can say that this is the beginning of everything.

How do you see yourself in 5 years? In 10 years ?

I like to imagine myself making movies in 5-10 or 20 years. Documentaries, fiction or short films... it doesn't matter. I´d love to be telling stories for the rest of my life.
