Orane BARROSO PINTO DIAS
Actress

Orane received a grant to finance her studies at the École Supérieure d’Art Dramatique de Paris.

What is your artistic background?
I entered the Grenoble Conservatory in 2018. Then EDT91 in 2021 and ESAD in 2023. In 2021, I obtained the DET (diploma in theatrical studies). In Grenoble, I also participated in two editions of the Regards Croisés festival, a festival of contemporary theater texts. I read under the direction of Thierry Blanc for the first edition, and Sylvie Jobert in the second edition.
At EDT91, I co-directed The Sister of Jesus Christ by Oscar De Summa.
At ESAD, I was able to direct a reading of the text Gardienne des baies by Pauline Guillerm, as part of the EAT readings (theater associate writers). In this school, I met many artists including Gurshad Shaheman, Pauline Haudepin, Matthieu Roy, Mathieu Genet, Estelle Meyer. Thanks to them, I was able to express myself and work as an actress. I was also able to try other performing arts such as clown, dance, and singing.
Today I am in my third and final year at ESAD and I look forward to what comes next and all the future encounters.
During these seven years of study, I had the chance to work with diverse artists who brought me so much and thanks to whom I was able to sharpen my critical and artistic mind. Thanks to them, I am an independent artist and I flourish as I grow.

How do you view your profession today?

Culture is going through turbulent times and I cannot deny my concern. Nevertheless, I am happy to be on this great ship and I am proud to be part of a generation eager to make things change. I feel surrounded by determined, curious, and passionate people. I believe that's what it takes to launch into creation.

I think the path is long and complicated, but I feel ready and I have the necessary personal investment, and above all the necessity to speak through creating. That's where my place is. Today, more than anything, there is the necessity to come together to create, to speak, to seek to move forward together. Art and creation are part of us, part of our humanity, and it is essential to let that space exist. The view I have of my profession is concerned but also full of joy and courage.

How do you see yourself in five years? In 10 years?
In 5 years, I will be 31. That seems both distant and close. There's the desire to have done great things in a short time. But I believe that as I grow, I especially want to do things with pride and desire. I hope that in 5 years I will be able to create and be part of creations that are close to my heart, with friends and/or people whose work I esteem. In 10 years, I will be 36. I hope I will be proud of myself and the path traveled and yet to come. I hope I will have brought something to people, whether smiles, laughter, tears, emotions in a dark theater or even perhaps in teaching with people eager to perform. I hope I will be able to fully live from my profession. I wish for myself to always have as much necessity and fire, and to have left frustrations, fears, and disappointments behind me, to always move forward toward fulfillment.
